Tamiya 1/48 Avro Lancaster B MK.I/III

The Avro Lancaster was the epitome of British bomber aircraft during WWII, celebrated for its sturdy design and expansive bomb bay capable of deploying massive 10-ton bombs. In addition to the Mk.I variant, which was powered by Rolls-Royce Merlin engines, the Packard Merlin-powered Mk.III was also produced. With over 7,000 Lancasters manufactured, they played a crucial role in dismantling Germany's industrial infrastructure, conducting 156,000 sorties and dropping approximately 600,000 tons of bombs throughout the conflict.

This kit offers versatility with two types of nose windows, rear gun turret, and exhausts, allowing for depiction of both early- and late-production variants of the Mk.I and Mk.III. It includes both pre-painted and unpainted canopy parts, with meticulous interior details in the cockpit, gun turrets, and bomb bay. The nose, dorsal, and tail gun turrets are movable, and parts for two Merlin engines are provided, with detachable cowlings for display. Bomb bay doors can be assembled open or closed, and ordnance parts such as 200lb and 4,000lb bombs are included. Slick tires for the landing gear feature a realistic weighted effect. Five figures, representing the pilot, radio operator, bombardier, gunner, and ground crew, are included. The kit also comes with four marking options for added customization.
